Except for when you’re busy making a human being! So, to help you celebrate your newborn miracle and capture forever the cherub-chub of those precious early days, organize a newborn photoshoot.
This is not only a great way to make sure the moments are captured but they also make for incredible bonding experiences. That’s why it’s best to choose to take these subtle snaps within the first 10 days of you baby’s life, and I am dedicated to documenting fragile fingers and tiny toes in the best way possible.

I’m a self-confessed photoshoot-purist, so I believe the photographer should portray the essence, and not only the exterior of mother and child – and dad too! The best way to do this is photographing the baby in his or her natural environment: capturing organic images of the little ones and their home.
Newborn photoshoots aren’t without their challenges: there is a short time frame for the baby to be in his or her best mood, never mind the communication gap! But with professional guidance and a relaxed approach, early-morning shoots are always a success. This is also a good time for effective use of natural light.

The best bit of advice? Know what you want and give your photographer a heads up on what you hope to get out of the shoot. If there are siblings that you would like included, speak about it beforehand so that the shoot can be well-prepared for and so that there will be time for everything.

In the end it is all about celebrating a new gift that has entered the world and I enjoy doing this naturally and with a great deal of communication. The more comfortable you are with your photographer, the more comfortable your baby will be and this all results in more memorable photographs.
