A honeymoon in Dubai!  This gorgeous young couple travelled all the way from Trinidad in the Caribbean.  It was their suggestion to have their photos taken at the very pretty Miracle Gardens and what a pretty and romantic backdrop it was.

What would your choice of a honeymoon be?

It got me thinking, as this year, my husband and myself will reach a huge milestone.  We will be celebrating 30 years of marriage!  When we got married, of course, money was pretty short so we went locally and all things considered, I still have fond memories of it.  Lets put it this way “Beds are Burning” by Midnight Oil took on a new meaning!

But what if on the other hand, money was not short and you could choose your dream honeymoon!  Where would you go?  So take a moment and let me know where you would go or where you went.  If you went overseas, let us know how it was, what would you do differently or would you keep it exactly the same!

Should the trip be romantic, exotic, adventurous or relaxing?  Furthermore, did you leave for your trip immediately after your wedding? Finally, what advice would you give to young couples who are planning their trip?

Dubai Family

“The Goosens”

This Dubai Family initially contacted me because they thought I was still operating in South Africa.  The opening line went something like this “We are a Dubai family and will be visiting Cape Town shortly and would like a family session!” Needless to say I had a chuckle as I typed my reply, “Hi, I am a Cape Town photographer currently based in Dubai!”

Goose (Dads nickname is Dubai) wanted the Cape Town beach background so I recommended a couple of SA photographers and didn’t think I would hear from Mel again. Until just before I left for Cape Town, I got this email saying they had never got around to getting the photos so had decided to have a session with me. The funny thing was I was just leaving for Cape Town for a month …so once again we delayed it. This seems to be pretty normal in Dubai, its a transitional city. People are coming and going all the time whether they are leaving to go visit home or permanently moving on.  In fact, this young family are in the process of moving to Ras Al Khaimah.

Mel, who is originally from the Uk but grew up in Bahrain and Goose who is from the Eastern Cape, South Africa met in the Middle East. I was actually surprised that a English girl called her son, Andries and is teaching him Afrikaans.

Andries is the cutest little boy in his South African Crocs!  He is a fearless, independent little guy whom I can imagine playing rugby once he is older!

One thing that is impressive about Dubai besides its well known landmarks, is how they cater for families.  The Creek Park is an amazing place for young families to enjoy.  There is a lot of entertainment for young families.  Children are very special to the local Emirati’s.
