There are certain dates to avoid. Between December 24^th and January 5^th, you should not even think about it. People are already frantic with sorting out their own festivities and will probably not be able to give your wedding the time and attention that it deserves. Easter weekend at the beginning of April is also a time to avoid when it comes to a wedding date because there is a lot going on, especially religious ceremonies and family gatherings.

There is still some superstition around certain wedding date options. An example of this is the ‘Ides of March’ which is the middle of March. This date is considered unlucky because Julius Caesar was assassinated on the 15^th  of March in 44 BC. Then there is Friday 13^th, which everyone knows as being a somewhat unlucky or even haunted day. Depending on whether or not you believe in superstition, these may affect your decision in this regard.

Once you have decided what dates to avoid, you can focus on the date you do want. One of the first things that we suggest is to consider the season. This will then dictate the time of year that you want and you can narrow it down from there. From there, you can think about what day of the week you would prefer. Saturdays are more expensive with regards to venues, so depending on what concerns you have will determine what day you choose. In 2013, the most popular date in the year to get married was November 12^th. This was an over 700% increase from the year before and was due to the fact that the date was sequential. The date was 11/12/13.

We hope that this has been food for thought and will take a bit more weight off of your planning shoulders so that you can focus on more important things like the colour of your shoes. At the end of the day, the only thing that really matters is that you pick the right person (like these people did), but the perfect date wouldn’t hurt either.
